Leading the Change:  Considerations for the Visionary CIO
Ranjit Rajan

Ranjit Rajan

Associate Vice President, Consulting, IDC Middle East, Africa & Turkey

The progressive Middle Eastern CIO is today increasingly involved in driving change within the organization by leveraging transformative technology platforms such as cloud, mobile, big data analytics and social. On the one hand, the CIO is constantly striving to provision more and more applications, devices and data to rapidly growing business users at a high level of availability and quality of service, while on the other, he or she is persevering to achieve greater levels of operational efficiency, costs savings and technical capability within the IT organization. Understandably, the strength and quality of the core technical infrastructure required to deliver the above occupies much of his or her time and attention. Most CIOs are focusing their efforts on building a scalable, cost efficient, reliable and agile infrastructure that can efficiently support rapidly growing application workloads, and enable provisioning of services from on-premise systems and/or clouds while ensuring that management is relatively easy and user friendly. This infrastructure will need to see the coming together of IT systems and facilities such as power, cooling and space like never before. At this event, top CIOs from the region, leading industry analysts and IT executives will discuss emerging technology paradigms and platforms, opportunities and challenges and best practices that could contribute to the long term IT infrastructure strategy.
